The global dental supply company is growing, expanding and staying right here in the Bradenton Area.
“The Bradenton Area EDC understands what we are trying to do in Florida and has become a true business partner to our organization. This is a great example of the cooperation a business needs to succeed and grow in a community.”

Claim to Fame
DENTSPLY Raintree Essix Glenroe is a medical device manufacturer of dental and orthodontic products and a business unit of DENTSPLY International Inc. (NASDAQ: XRAY). The $2.8-billion parent company is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of professional dental products. DENTSPLY Raintree Essix Glenroe also serves as a manufacturing “Center of Expertise,” providing manufacturing services for other DENTSPLY International business units. The Bradenton Area business unit continues to experience significant growth in an otherwise challenging economy.
Between 2008 and 2010, the DENTSPLY Raintree Essix Glenroe business nearly doubled in volume, pushing the limits of manufacturing space that was spread between three facilities (two in the Bradenton Area and one in Baldwin, Ga). Production space constraints were delaying new projects, slowing the company’s growth potential. Working from three facilities was less than efficient, for both the company and its suppliers. The company analyzed options for consolidation and expansion, then determined that Florida’s high concentration of medical device manufacturers and suppliers made the state attractive for the volume of products and services required to support operations.
The Bradenton Area Solution
Preferring a Florida location but needing a quicker solution than new construction, DENTSPLY Raintree Essix Glenroe identified an idle manufacturing facility in the Bradenton Area that would allow the business to consolidate the three facilities and provide room to grow. The Bradenton Area EDC marshaled state and local resources to help the company meet its aggressive timeline for renovation.
Today, the company’s Bradenton Area facility houses more than 250 associates serving orthodontic and dental customers in 38 countries worldwide.
The EDC assisted DENTSPLY Raintree Essix Glenroe in applying for state and local job-creation incentives, as well as expedited permitting. In addition to incentives based on job creation, the company qualified for a “brownfield” designation that opens up training grants that allow the company to reinvest into creating a more highly skilled workforce. The EDC also connected the company to Suncoast Workforce for recruitment assistance, training services, and related grants. DENTSPLY Raintree Essix Glenroe has avidly pursued those opportunities, and encourages other employers to do the same.
Recently, the company worked with the agency to develop a new candidate pipeline for the company’s openings in manufacturing. The company provides on-the-job training to youths aged 18-21 who were recruited by CareerSource Suncoast and who receive ongoing coaching from the agency.
This was the second major facilities project where DENTSPLY relied on the EDC to help remove obstacles to business growth. The EDC originally assisted the company in 2008 when DENTSPLY merged Glenroe Technologies, a local Bradenton Area firm, with DENTSPLY’S Raintree Essix division to create DENTSPLY Raintree Essix Glenroe.
